Augur is on the etheruem Network. It is a prediction Market that let you bid money on future events. People who are holding a token called REP are the one betting on the validity of a results (aka Oracle). They lose Rep token if they don’t agree with the majority of Rep holder and they win Rep if they agree with the majority. So they are incentivize to bet on the true results.
Gnosis is another prediction market built on ethereum. Just like Augur, participant can bid on future event but the main difference is that Gnosis doesn’t rely on users to report the results of an event. They will use Oracle service like bloomberg to report on the results. Also Gnosis is is govern by a futarchy. This is a very promising governance model and i’m looking forward the launch of this project.
Arcade city is the response from the users Uber and Lyft. After the 2 services being banned in numerous country, users started to look for an alternative. Arcade city is a peer to peer ride sharing platform where drivers and users are match together. There is no central entity like in the case of Uber so the government cannot “close” the company. Currently available in a few city like Houston, Texas.
The Maker/Dai is an exciting project that allows people to lend each other money using ethereum blockchain. Borrower put some collateral in a smart contract and they receive a loan in exchange. When the loan is repaid, the smart contract return the collateral and a fee is paid to the lender.
It hasn’t launched yet but any alternative to the current banking system makes me happy. We really need an economy driven by the population, not the government and their friends.
Slock it is a project that a lot of people have been talking about. They were the first to create a DAO(decentralize Autonomous Organization). Slock.it was involved in the DAO hacked that forced Ethereum to forked. I am sure they learn from their mistake and im sure they will be doing great things over the next few years. They are currently working on a beta for a power sharing sevices for electric cars. The project is called “share and charge”. We all hope that Elon Musk will take notice.
IPFS is a very interesting project. It is just like torrents but on steroids. Its a file sharing software that allows much more than torrentz can at the moment. They are also partnering with ethereum for their file naming software that will allow user to query a file just by entering an address in a search bar.(of what I understand)
IPFS is something that a lot of other projects are waiting for in order to be operational. We are all looking forward the launch to start sharing files on the network.
Ujo music is a platform where artist get paid directly by user for their music. It’s like a decentralize iTunes where all the money can go to the artist. One cool feature of the platform is that let’s say someone purchase a song, they can automatically divide the payment between the producer, the singer, the drummer and the guitarist. So each one of the musician receive it’s share of the revenue immediatly.
They started working on their project about one year ago and they haven’t set a date for a beta release yet. We are looking forward the development.
DGX is one of my favourite project on Ethereum. It is gold on the blockchain. You buy gold and you receive a coins which is a cryptographic proof that you own that gold. You never have to take delivery of the gold, it is held for you in a singapor vault. You can sell ownership of that gold by selling your coins to anyone on an open market. So if you want to own gold without having to store it yourself and all the headache that can come with it. This is a great idea.
Akasha is a social platform on the blockchain that is not yet release. On Akasha you’ll be able to publish content just like on Medium but you will be compensated in ETH(Ether) everytime someone upvote your contents. So you’ll have full control of your post on a decentralize server and you’ll earn some money too!
